The Steam Oven is a multiblock Railcraft device that is capable of harnessing the power of Steam to smelt up to 9 different stacks of items at a time, smelting 1 of each every operation (up to 9 total). This operation takes 256 ticks (equal to 12.8 seconds), and uses 8,000 millibuckets of steam, the equivalent of 8 buckets. It thus takes an input of 32 mB steam/tick to run continuously at max speed. No matter how many different items are being smelted, the same amount of steam is always used. Steam can be supplied through BuildCraft Fluid Pipes or thermal expansion Liquiducts.

When placed adjacent to a solid-fueled Steam Boiler any steam required is fed straight into the Oven from the Boiler. This feature can be well-utilized by keeping a Steam Oven filled with Logs, to be smelted into Charcoal to power the Boiler, which in turn produces steam to power the Oven. This is not sustainable if the boiler is at a low heat level. A Steam Oven is capable of keeping a fully heated HP boiler running (assuming it's constantly filled).

Construction[edit]

The steam oven is constructed with 8 Steel Plate (Railcraft), in a 2x2x2 cube. Right clicking with a crowbar, omni-wrench, or crescent hammer will rotate the oven 90 degrees, though this is only for aesthetics.
