Mob Counter is a block added by the MineFactory Reloaded mod. The block will output a redstone signal when a mob is detected in the 5x5x5 cube area in front of it. For every additional mob in the detection area, the strength of the redstone signal increases by one until the maximum strength of the signal is reached. All mobs, friendly and aggressive are detected, as well as players.
