Talk:Necrotic Frame
From Feed The Beast Wiki
I am honestly confused about this item. Why does it exist? What benefits does it present? All I see are negative effects bestowed upon the bees within the apiary. Can someone explain to me why I would want to make this? XANA520 (talk) 17:23, 25 March 2013 (CET)
- While writing this page I was honestly wondering the same. I think the key point is this sentence from the Thaumonomicon entry: "However, it is prudent to ensure the enchantments in the frame only affect the current generation.". But I don't know what is meant by "enchantments in the frame"? I'm not sure what the implications of this are. --Artsja (talk) 17:42, 25 March 2013 (CET)
- When you need to produce a purebred bee, you might want to speed up the process. Decreasing the queen's lifespan helps that. Example: You have an imperial princess which produced 64 imperial drones. You want another Imperial princess. If you don't want to use a serum (or still not reached that state of Extra Bees), you can do it like that: put any princess (let's say Marbled) into one slot, drones of the desired specie into the other, let them breed till all the genes from drones go to that princess, effectively turning it into a pure Imperial princess. With necrotic frames it takes much less time OstPavel (talk) 17:55, 25 March 2013 (CET)
They are a less useful version of Chocolate Frames, basically. The only use is as OstPavel has said, shortening lifespan. Chocolates are superior in every way, not draining Vis & boosting production while reducing lifespan. Embri (talk) 19:15, 25 March 2013 (CET)
