The Fermenter is a machine added by the mod RotaryCraft. Its purpose is to create Ethanol Crystals, which are used to power the Gasoline Engine. There are three stages to this process, each done separately. The fermenter needs to be provided with a source of water. Buckets may not be used, instead you can use a Pump (RotaryCraft) or an Aqueous Accumulator to pipe it in.
Note: The target indicator in the top right corner doesn't need to be changed unless you are automating it.
Handbook Description[edit]
The fermenter is how you produce the ethanol for the engines that require it. To make Yeast, place sugar in the top slot, and dirt on the bottom. To make sludge, put yeast on top and plant matter on the bottom. Put that in a furnace, and you will get crystals of ethanol. This machine's operational speed rises as the input speed does. This machine is temperature-sensative, and very low or high temperatures will slow it down or even kill the yeast. To automate this machine, use redstone to choose the target production item (displayed at the top-right of the GUI). The middle GUI slot is in fact a water guage, not an item slot.
Recipe[edit]
Usage[edit]
Fermenter (RotaryCraft) has no known uses in crafting.
Process Steps[edit]
Step 1: Sugar needs to be put in the top slot, and dirt in the bottom. This process uses sugar a lot faster than the dirt. The product of this is yeast, which is used in the next step.
Step 2: Place the yeast from step 1 into the top slot, and you will need 'plant matter' in the bottom slot. Saplings and sugarcane will work, apples won't work. Leaves also work (best use vanilla ones, oak, birch, etc.) and give 2 sludge for every operation instead of one compared to other items. Other items haven't been confirmed/denied. The product of this is sludge.
Step 3: Smelt the sludge into Ethanol Crystals.
Special ingredients[edit]
A few trees from other mods produce more sludge per operation (tested with v10d, some work since at least v6):
Silverwood(Thaumcraft): produces 64 sludge per operation. The excess sludge is stored in the output slot, often increasing the stack size to 100+.
Greatwood(Thaumcraft): x4 sludge.
Tree of Transformation(Twilight forest): 32 sludge.
Twilight Mangrove, Darkwood, Sickly Twilight Oak, Canopy Tree(Twilight Forest): x3 sludge.
