Diamond Stairs is an item added by the mod Railcraft. They can be used for decoration or displaying wealth on a server. The recipe requires 54 diamonds for 1 stair block, making them impractical for even the smallest stairways. They are most often used in creative for decoration.
If it is desired to create a large number of these blocks, it is best to have several Quarries running, or a dedicated Mass Fabricator/Auto Workbench system to turn UU-Matter into diamonds. To maximize diamond output from the quarries Tunnel Bores can be deployed at layer 11.
