Required Tool |
The Recycler is an electric machine that will process most blocks or items. It consumes the item and has a small chance to produce scrap. Each operation requires 2.25 seconds (4 operations in 9 seconds). You can use Overclocker Upgrades to increase the speed.
Function[edit]
The Recycler is commonly used as a receptacle for excessive amounts of cobblestone, dirt, etc.. Each operation has a 12.5% (1 in 8) chance of producing Scrap. Probablistically, it requires 360 EU to produce one Scrap.
Blacklisted Items[edit]
The following items will be used by the Recycler, but will not produce any scrap.
- Glass Panes
- Sticks
- Snowballs
- Scaffolds
Other items may also be added manually by editing the IC2.cfg file.
Energy[edit]
The Recycler can receive up to 32 EU/p (low voltage) unless equipped with one or more Transformer Upgrades.
The basic Recycler requires 1 EU/t to operate continuously, and takes 45 ticks (2¼ seconds) per operation. Adding 1 Overclocker Upgrade will increase speed to 31 ticks per operation but the EU per tick is rounded down to 1, resulting in 30% higher energy efficiency.
Automation[edit]
The Recycler can be automated fairly easily. Scrap can be pulled from the sides with a Wooden Transport Pipe with a Redstone Engine or Autarchic Gate. Igneous Extruders are great ways to produce cobblestone for it that are inserted into the top. In order to keep up with the cobblestone produced, Overclocker Upgrades are required. In order to keep up with the power drained at once with many overclocker upgrades, a single Energy Storage Upgrade is required. One Igneous Extruder requires 1 upgrade and 2 requires 3 upgrades (Maximum: 40 Igneous Extruder, 10 Overclocker Upgrades, 2 Transformer Upgrades, 1 Energy Storage Upgrade, Needed Energy = 109 EU/t). If the player is going to add additional recyclable materials, a Hopper is a great way to provide a buffer. Note that 6 Overclocker Upgrades will cause the Recycler to recycle exactly as fast as the Hopper will output into the Recycler.
With GregTech 4 installed, the Recycler can be combined with a Conveyor Module to produce an Automatic Recycler.
Recipe[edit]
Dirt can be substituted with the following items: Coarse Dirt, Podzol.
